Five Work Habits You Should Change in 2022

It’s a new year and a new year is always a great time to make changes to our personal and business life. To help you get started, here are five work habits you should change in 2022.

Be On Time

Working remotely can present some challenges when it comes to watching the clock. We might say we’re planning to start work at 8am but since we’re not going to the office, nobody will notice that it’s 8:15 am when we are ready to work. The same can be said for phone and video meetings. A few minutes of tardiness can really add up in a weeks time. Vow to be punctual in 2022—for yourself and your clock.

Be Organized

If you are one that is already pretty organized, then you may feel that this is redundant. However, if you are not organized, commit to changing your disorganized work habits. Start small, such as keeping a desk calendar and keeping track of important dates. If you want to up your game, you can color code your notes from meetings or file tabs for your folders. Whatever way you organize, make sure it is consistent and something that you can commit to continuing throughout the year.

Be Focused

With the constant distractions every day–whether it is your phone, an email notification, or a PM from your favorite coworker– it can really feel hard to be focused. Unless it is urgent and needs immediate attention, put it off until you finish your current task. You’ll feel less scattered, your work will be higher quality, and you can feel more accomplished at completing timely work. Some phones now have a Focus setting that will only allow important notifications through, which you might find helpful if you’re one easily distracted.

 Be Confident

The past couple of years has taken a toll on everyone's confidence. So with a fresh year comes a fresh start to be the boss that you want to be in the office. Whether it is asking for a raise, applying for a promotion, or just a regular presentation, do it with confidence. When you have confidence, you take pride in your work–and it shows! Commit to being confident at work and stop shying away from amazing opportunities.

 Be Present

Take some time for yourself every day at work through mindful habits and short two or five-minute meditations. Just to check in with yourself throughout the day, relieve stress and anxiety, and help you stay on track to meet your goals. We know you value your work, so take some time in the day to value yourself too. There are many benefits that taking just short breaks to check in with your mind and body throughout the day can have on your work and personal life.

Let 2022 be your year at work and in your personal life!
