A Healthy Mind For a Healthy You: Take Care of Your Mental Health

When it comes to working from home, or even in a co-working space, your mental health can take a toll. It is important to prioritize your mental health and practice care when you can. If you are experiencing severe symptoms, please talk to your doctor and seek advice from a mental health professional. Here are some helpful tips for keeping your mental health a priority.

Get Up and Get Moving

Your body will tell you when it needs a break. And it is important to listen to it. When your eyes sting or your wrist pops or you notice your shoulders are tight, these are all signs that your body needs a break from sitting at a desk. Especially if you sit in front of a computer. It is recommended to take a few minutes every hour to get out of your chair and stretch--and it is a perfect time to get another cup of coffee or make copies or take a walk around the Wynwood neighborhood, a great creative boost!

Talk to Humans

This is where Minds Co/Work shines! It is like working from home, but with like-minded people! And when you get a chance to interact with other people, it can help you get over a slump, fix a problem, or even just vent about the weekend. And while we love our house plants and pets, they don’t always give us that opportunity to socialize (although, we won’t judge if you talk to your desk plant). Social interaction can do wonders for your mental health.

Soak in the Sunshine

This may seem like a given, but going outside is also key to keeping your brain happy. Vitamin D gives you energy and helps your brain release happy chemicals. This can mean a little stroll through Wynwood, or even moving your office outside for an hour or even the whole day. There are lots of opportunities and sunshine to be had right near your Minds Co/Work space.

Hydrate and Replenish

Drink water! Eat healthy food! While it is okay to splurge on the food here and there (and we understand sometimes you need some wine with your lunch), it is key to your mental health to put the right things in your body. Drinking water and eating a balanced meal can keep you energized for longer and helps reduce stress.

There you have it! Prioritizing your mental health is something to do without shame or guilt, and it leads to a better you--and therefore, a better business.
