Virtual Team Building Activities To Put In Action

Running a team remotely can be difficult, and it can feel as if everyone is a little disjointed. But just because work happens on virtual platforms doesn’t mean that you can’t bring back some of the great traditions and activities you and your team did in person. Here are three easy team-building activities that you can try right away!

Virtual  Team Building Activity: Fun(ny) Hat Party

Now, hear us out–this is one of the best activities on this list. One, it invites an interesting challenge for you and your team to find a fun or funny hat. But secondly, most of the time, there is a story to those hats. A vacation, a gag gift, or won at a fair as a prize, every hat has a story to be told, which makes this team-building activity even better. This activity is so simple to pull off and allows for teams to showcase themselves, their hats, and tell a great story. It also is the perfect cure for early-morning meeting bad hair days.

Virtual Team Building Activity: Guided Meditation

Talk about taking time to destress! Working remotely can take a toll on everyone’s mental health and well-being. When you initiate a time for a guided meditation or even just a few minutes of intentional slow breathing, it can help your team declutter their minds and release tension. Not to mention, it can be a great way to demonstrate that you care about their health and wellness.

Finding a guided meditation can be done through any music app (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.) or YouTube. You can also invite a guest speaker to conduct the guided meditation, or do it yourself. However you decide to go about taking this time, it will be time well spent for you and your team.

Virtual Team Building Activity: Coffee Break/Happy Hour/Birthday Party

Just because you are remote, doesn’t mean the normal extra-curricular activities that make offices enjoyable have to stop. Taking fifteen minutes during the day for a coffee/tea break where everyone has casual conversations can help provide a much-needed reset–and allow you and your team to show off your coffee mug collections! If you want to do things more after hours, you can host a virtual happy hour, paint-n-sip night, or celebrate team members’ birthdays.

Don’t be afraid to try anything once, and continue building your team’s morale and unity through remote work! It can be really rewarding, and if there is ever an occasion for in-person meetings, it can be less awkward. Not to mention, it can make the workdays seem a little less dull when you’re working remotely.

In-Person Team Building Activity: Meet Up For a Work Social

Though remote work is more the norm today than ever before, that doesn’t mean you have to forgo building relationships with those you work with. Minds Co/Work is a great central event location in Wynwood for your in-person work social. With plenty of creative spaces to choose from, you can be sure to find the space that will work for you and your team.
